C36000 Free-Cutting Brass

C36000 free-cutting brass datasheet with common names, chemical composition, machinability, mechanical property ranges, fabrication notes, applications, and available forms.

What is C36000 Brass?

C36000 brass is the standard free-cutting brass alloy for high-volume screw machine parts and precision machined components. It is commonly called 360 brass, free-cutting brass, or free-machining brass because its lead content gives it the benchmark machinability rating used to compare many copper alloys.

C36000 is not a bearing bronze, but it is widely used when a drawing calls for brass bar stock, fittings, threaded parts, valve trim, connectors, and other components that need excellent machinability with good corrosion resistance.
