Bronze solid bar is used when the finished part does not need a large through-bore or when the machining plan starts from round stock. It is a practical choice for small sleeve bushings, pins, spacers, nuts, gears, plugs, and custom turned components.
C93200 / SAE 660 is the standard bearing bronze for many solid bar RFQs. Other alloys are selected when the part needs higher strength, corrosion resistance, or better severe-duty wear performance.
| Quick spec | Catalog reference |
|---|---|
| Stock type | Solid round bronze bar or rod |
| Common bearing alloy | C93200 / SAE 660 |
| Manufacturing route | Continuous cast bronze bar |
| Typical standard | ASTM B505 for continuous cast stock |
| Size format | OD x Length |
Manufacturing & Performance
Continuous cast solid bronze bar gives machine shops a consistent structure for turning, boring, threading, and grooving. Compared with less controlled casting routes, continuous casting is valued for reduced porosity, uniform grain structure, and predictable machining behavior.
Solid bar is best when the part is small, when the bore is minor, or when the design includes features that require material through the centerline.
Standard Stock & Machining Notes
| Feature | Buying note | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| OD | Specify nominal OD and cut length | Drives stock selection and machining allowance |
| Cut length | Full length or saw-cut blank | Saw-cut blanks need facing allowance |
| Alloy | Match load, wear, and corrosion requirements | C93200 is not a substitute for every bronze |
| Finish machining | Raw stock or finished part | Finished parts need drawing tolerances |
Size & Availability
Specify solid bar as OD x length. Inch and metric sizes can be supplied as full bars, cut pieces, or machined blanks. If the finished part has a large bore, Bronze Cored Bar may reduce machining time and scrap.
Alternative Alloys
- C93200 SAE 660 Bearing Bronze for general bearing bronze bar.
- C95400 Aluminum Bronze for higher strength turned components.
- C86300 Manganese Bronze for severe-service wear parts.
- C46400 Naval Brass when brass bar is more appropriate than bearing bronze.
Typical Applications
- Small bushings, spacers, pins, plugs, sleeves, and collars.
- Gear blanks, valve components, pump parts, and custom CNC parts.
- Repair shop stock for urgent maintenance jobs.
